Roadbook
The route starts beside the roadway of the SP19, not far from the junction that quickly leads to Nuraghe Appiu and trail 303. The area takes its name from the nearby Monte Cuccu hill, sometimes an occasional resting place for griffon vultures. The path immediately heads eastward, mostly flat, through a wide and panoramic environment.
The road gradually begins to descend, surrounded by dry stone walls and sporadic farms. It then rises slightly, flanked by beautiful cork oak trees and now faced by the unmistakable bulk of Monte Minerva, with its typical flattened profile—a reminder of the Pliocene basaltic eruptions that shaped the landscape of this area.
A final stretch of gentle slopes through the woods leads alongside the Montiosciu de Su Chercu hill: here it joins trail 301, which allows you to return to Villanova Monteleone by taking a left, or continue to Monte Minerva by going right.
