This track represents a section (the highest altitude one) of the wider loop trail codified as G-101: it is an integral path within the Site of Community Interest (S.I.C.) of Montalbo, crossing the municipality of Lodè and continuing along the ridge of Montalbo, which offers panoramic views on both sides of the mountain.
The geological characteristics and remote location make the area particularly important from a naturalistic point of view. Along the way you’ll encounter mountain garrigue, inhospitable cliffs and numerous endemic plants, such as the Corsican Peony. In cooler spots, meanwhile, there are centuries-old specimens of Montpellier maple, which have miraculously avoiding being cut down. With a little luck you’ll spot mouflons and birds of prey including buzzards, peregrine falcons and golden eagles.
Along the route there are ruins of old sheepfolds and breathtaking panoramic viewpoints.
