The pathway

This beautiful trail runs along what remains of a forestry track, before switching onto mule tracks used by the charcoal makers of old, and ancient mining tracks as it climbs the Rio Maccioni Valley all the way to the top near Punta Pilocca, where you’ll find a picnic area not far from the large mining site of Arenas - Tinnì.

Roadbook

You set off following the stony riverbed of the Rio Maccioni, leaving behind the deep gully of Gutturu Pala. The old mining track that used to run along the bottom of the valley is now ravaged by floods in many parts: the trail therefore skirts along the sides, sometimes passing by the remains of works used by charcoal makers to cut wood.
