Pixinamanna
The Regional Forest of Pixinamanna is located in south-western Sardinia, in the mountain range that circles the Gulf of Cagliari to the east, about 40 km from the city. It is adjacent to the Regional Forests of Is Cannoneris, Pantaleo, Monte Nieddu and Gutturu Mannu. For the most part, the Pixinamanna forest is a wildlife sanctuary and is included in the proposed Sulcis Regional Nature Park.
The Pixinamanna forest was heavily exploited from the mid-19th century, in particular from the abolition of common land. Assigned first to the Compagnia Reale delle Ferrovie Sarde and then to private individuals, it was used to obtain wood, coal and other forest products. In 1905, the forest returned to the State.
It is now included in the Gutturu Mannu forest complex.
