History and Evolution of the Website

  • This website, in its version 1, was previously created with the contribution of EU funds from the Italy/France Cross-border Cooperation Programme "Maritime" 2007-2013 (co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund) within Sub-project B (Expansion of the network of protected and/or sensitive sites and spaces) of the Co.R.E.M. project
  • In its version 2, which remained online until November 2023, the site was an evolution financed thanks to the Intense Project under the IT-FR Maritime Programme, implemented in collaboration with the Regional Department of Tourism, Crafts and Commerce, and cRS4 Sardegna.
  • A portion of the Hiking Network of Sardinia, displayed in the "large regional catalog" represented by SardegnaSentieri, was instead created between 2008 and 2009 within Measure 4.14b of the POR Sardegna 2000-2006: in this context, the Ente Foreste della Sardegna (Forestry Agency of Sardinia) created 76 trails and some web pages that were integrated into the large SardegnaSentieri Network.
  • The SardegnaSentieri portal was initially created through a service provision, with an expenditure of approximately €10,000 (entirely financed with European funds): however, it represents the result of the know-how gained in almost a decade of activity and management of the entire Hiking Trail Supply Chain by the staff and professionals of the Ente Foreste della Sardegna, and in particular: forestry doctors, GIS experts, IT specialists, and graphic designers (for the geographical data design and management part); specialized workers operating in the Forest Complexes (for the creation of wooden signage in the Agency's carpentry workshops, on-site installation, and maintenance of all linear and point structures along the trail).
  • The site is published on a dedicated server and is built and managed with the CMS (Content Management Framework) Drupal, which is a widely used Open Source product in the web world.
