The village of s'Urbale, datable to the Middle Bronze Age, is located in the territory of Teti, from which it is about twelve kilometers away, southwest of Nuoro. It consists of about fifty circular huts, built from granite blocks with still visible stone floors. They have a quadrangular hearth in the center of the room, made with beaten earth placed on stones.
Once the huts were covered with poles and branches and thermally insulated thanks to clay and cork, a technique that differentiates them from those of other Nuragic villages. One of them, faithfully reconstructed in the archaeological museum of Teti, has characteristics that will show you the high construction technique: a storage compartment with stone slabs embedded in the ground, used for provisions and utensils, and a central hearth with stoves and fragments of bowls.
In the excavations, fictile objects of clay and ceramic have been found that tell unusual, significant and fascinating aspects of daily life in the 9th century BC. Even weaving tools - spindles, spools, loom weights - and for cereal processing. Of considerable interest is also the meeting hut, equipped with benches leaning against the walls. Inside you can observe worked ashlars, used to place votive offerings.
Speaking of religious functions, near the village there is the sanctuary of Abini, brought to light in 1931, a sacred place where inhabitants of various surrounding villages met on the occasion of common religious festivities. In practice, it was a federal sanctuary of the Nuragic populations. The importance of the religious site is evidenced by the discovery of numerous late-Nuragic votive bronzes, datable to the 9th-8th century, now exhibited at the Archaeological Museum of Cagliari.
