The pathway

The path starts at the Flumini de Tula locality and allows you, by connecting with Trail T102, to make a loop around the Isara Tacco (rock outcrop).

Leaving behind the junction with Trail T102, the trail climbs and crosses a holm oak forest. Along the route you can make two small detours to reach the Perdu Isu nuraghe and the picnic area of Su candelessargiu located on the Gairo Taquisara - Lago Flumendosa provincial road. Continuing on the path, you will go down the right side of the rio Taquisara valley, through an area known as the valle dei tassi (yew tree valley). Continuing downhill, you will reach the Taquisara caves and then the mountain village of Taquisara at an elevation of 780 m asl.

Useful informations

The trail network in this territory connects three places of considerable natural and landscape interest: the limestone tacco of Isara, the Regional forest of Montarbu and the natural monument of Perda Liana (Gairo).

In addition to offering outstanding environmental and landscape heritage, the trails will allow you to explore the area’s fascinating mining heritage near the small mountain town of Seui, with the ruins of the ancient Corongiu mine, forming part of the geo-mining park of Sardinia. Another interesting cultural attraction is offered by the notable museum system in the town.

You can also go round the limestone tacco (rock outcrop) of Isara on a loop route having as its base the town of Seui, which can also be reached via the historic Arbatax-Mandas railway. The natural monument of Perda Liana can also be circled via a short ring trail affording a 360° view of this imposing rock and then heading towards the historic Regional forest of Montarbu. This protected area and wildlife oasis is not to be missed for its outstanding natural, historical and landscape value.

The streams flowing on limestone bedrock of ’Onna Pruna and Sa Taula (Ussassai) and Ermolinus within the perimeter of Montarbu (Seui), offer clear waters and natural pools.

The nuraghi of Perdu isu (Gairo), Serbissi (Osini), and Ardasai (Seui) that lie along the trails or close to them testify to widespread human settlement in these areas in the Nuragic period. Of particular interest is the archaeological site of Is Tostoinus (Gairo), an area entirely enclosed by a typical holm oak fence and shaded by a lush holm oak forest. The holm oak is the most widespread woodland in this area. Of particular note are the woods at Taccu Mannu near Ussassai and those in the Baccu e Piras valley and in the Flumendosa valley at Montarbu.

The main services are the tourist accommodation facilities in the small towns of the area and the local hiking guides who can make your trip more enjoyable and safer.

In the winter season, beware of possible snowfall.
