Locally also known as Piscine Coccorroci, the correct toponym is actually Is Piscinas.
Another name for them is Piscine di Monte Ferru. They are also often mistakenly confused with another place name (Piscina 'e Cerbus), which is actually located elsewhere — on a plateau on the northwestern slope of Monte Ferru, along a forest track where there is a small nursery and a Forestas worksite, but no waterfalls.
This place, on the other hand, is a true natural wonder. From the spring called su Accu ‘e s’Axina, crystal-clear waters flow downstream, forming a succession of small waterfalls with drops of a few meters, and 'resting' in pools carved into red porphyry rock, varying in width and depth.
The scenery is enchanting. The pools will suddenly appear to the hiker, hidden behind a tangle of holm oaks, junipers, and oleanders. The pure, clear, and refreshingly cool waters are perfect for a rejuvenating swim, especially during the summer heat, gently accompanied by the soothing sound of the waterfalls.
