The Church of Santa Maria “de Josso” is part of the parish of Sant'Antioco Martire, in the Archdiocese of Oristano, and is consecrated for Catholic worship.
The church collapsed in the early 1900s; it was similar to that of Santa Maria ‘e susu and to San Giorgio, although of a later period. It was rebuilt in the 1970s in a modern style, and practically nothing of the original structure remains.
The church has a single nave. The small presbytery is raised one step above the nave. The walls are plastered and painted white. The simple façade is devoid of decorative elements and is surmounted by a bell-gable.
In ancient times it was called Santa Maria de is Novizios, because remains were found nearby of a settlement of novices from the church of San Marco and from the confraternity of the Rosary.
The feast of Santa Maria de Josso is celebrated on 22 August.
