Baronie e Montalbo
Baronie e Montalbo
: description
The territory of Baronie ranges from the calcareous mountain range of Montalbo to the massif of Tuttavista, in an area characterised by water courses such as Isalle and the Cedrino and vast floodplains. In this context, Montalbo plays a crucial role from a naturalistic point of view. Thanks to its environmental characteristics and its good state of preservation, it hosts numerous species of rare flora and fauna, either endemic or of biogeographical interest. These include: Santolina corsica, Lactuca longidentata, the Monte Albo cave salamander, the chough, the golden eagle and the mouflon. Walking the trails, you may also come across small colonies of mouflon, spot signs of the ancient charcoal-making tradition and rest your legs at the ancient sheepfolds (pinnettos).
How to get there
From Nuoro, take the S.S. 131 d.c.n. road towards Olbia. At the crossroads at Lula, if you continue towards the village, you follow the S.P. n.3 road and you’ll find entrances to the trails from the Lodè side; if, on the other hand, you proceed along the S.P. n. 45 road the entrance to the trails is from the Lula side.
