On Sunday, June 15, 2025, starting at 09:30, the "Safe in the mountains on summer" ("Sicuri in montagna d'estate") event will take place on Mount Ortobene in Nuoro, specifically in the Sedda Ortai area. This annual event, which renews the national day dedicated to preventing mountain incidents, is organized by the Sardinian Alpine and Speleological Rescue (S.A.S.S.) and the Italian Alpine Club (C.A.I.) Nuoro section, with the patronage of the Municipality of Nuoro and the Fo.Re.S.T.A.S. Agency.
The event starts at 9:30 AM, with participants meeting at Mount Ortobene.
At 10:00 AM, the C.A.I. of Nuoro and the S.A.S.S. will introduce the event's initiative. At 10:30 AM, the S.A.S.S. will illustrate the planning and organization of the excursions, including rescue support technologies, the body's activities, and the role of the helicopter rescue technician within the HEMS system.
At 11 AM, there will be a loop hike towards Fonte Sa Radichina, led by C.A.I. Nuoro. This hike, open to everyone, is 3 km long and has an "E" difficulty rating.
Participants can enjoy a packed lunch. There will be dedicated safety sessions, including simulations by S.A.S.S., where you can get information and view the equipment and intervention gear.
The event is free and open to everyone. This year, the 25th edition will no longer use its old name, "Safe on the trail," ("Sicuri nel Sentiero") but will be called "Safe in the mountains on summer," ("Sicuri in montagna d'estate") due to the different classification of activities practiced, which has increased the types of risks involved.
